Position-taking terms

A position is a single declaration — support or oppose — on one curated Texas bill. It is a statement of your view, addressed to the public record of your district. It is not a vote, a pledge, or a promise of any action by you or by anyone else.

Positions count publicly only after you verify with a government ID and a residence check that places you in the district. Until then your position is saved privately as pending. Verification is described on the security page.

You hold at most one position per bill (this is the meaning of “one position per bill”). You may change it — every change is recorded in your private revision history — until the first scored vote on the bill occurs. After that your position is frozen so tallies published before a vote cannot be quietly rewritten afterward. Positions taken after a scored vote are accepted but labeled and excluded from pre-vote counts.

Publicly you are an anonymous count, attributed to a district-numbered pseudonym pool. If you opt in on a specific position, the display name you type yourself — never your legal name from verification — is listed beside your stance. You can type any display name; choosing one that is not your legal name is allowed. Opting in on one position names you on that position only.

We publish verified counts with recruitment-channel disclosure, and show percentages only at 25 or more verified positions. We never describe a tally as what “the district” wants.

What we store and what we never store is documented on the security page. District only — never your address — appears anywhere public.

Errors are corrected with dated notices (see the methodology page). You may change your position at any time before it freezes; frozen positions remain in the historical tallies they were counted in.

These terms are versioned. A new version applies only to positions taken after it is published; your recorded version never changes retroactively.
